Thankful

It’s amazing that we can all invest at a time when the pandemic is ravaging. It’s even more amazing, the accessibility of public markets for anyone to invest. I think private markets will be available soon, too.

What I’m most thankful for is interconnection of it all. I can meet new people, learn from them, and exchange ideas. This interconnection might be the downfall for many people, but for now it has greatly increased the quality of life for both me and my family. Twitter and social media get a bad reputation for spoiling people and being a pit of negativity, but it’s just like a dog and its owner: abuse the dog and you’ll have a ‘bad dog.’ Turns out its the owner, not the dog, that is a problem. Give the dog love and training and he’ll love and protect you. Same with twitter: curate the timeline and the value of twitter becomes exponential. I get a live feed of the greatest minds, and I can interact with them. What a great thing.

That’s what I’m most thankful for this year. I’m thankful for the connection I have with you.

And in no particular order:

  • I’m alive

  • I don’t have to sleep outside, I have a home of my own

  • I know where my food is coming from

  • Nobody is trying to kill me

  • I am free to do whatever I want, whenever I want, where I want, and with who I want

  • I have a wonderful little family

  • Medicine has never been better (think about that: toothaches used to be traumatic, now they are easily avoided, fixed)

  • Same with tech (opportunities abound for those that are willing to get their feet wet and look dumb)

  • I have an Ipad with 100x the library of Alexandria on it

  • I have a mind that works (sort of)

  • Indoor plumbing

  • Tv, video games, nice furniture, heat, clothes, clean water, coffee, rice cooker, waffle maker, global music, certain unalienable rights, cars that work, the list goes on forever.

We are surrounded with amazing comforts and opportunities all the time. Because we are human we look for problems to solve. Today, look at the problems that have been solved and how good we have it. If you’re reading this then you have it better than 99.9 percent of people throughout history.

If you’re going to solve a problem, solve it with a happy heart.
